2009 Beaujolais Nouveau In BC Liquor Stores

2009-11-17

VANCOUVER - The annual arrival of Beaujolais Nouveau wine from France takes place Thursday, Nov. 19 at BC Liquor Stores across the province.

“2009 is purported to be a spectacular year in Burgundy, and this is a first glimpse at what the vintage will bring,” says Barbara Philip MW, BC Liquor Stores portfolio manager for European wine. “It promises to be an excellent year for Beaujolais Nouveau.”

Beaujolais Nouveau is an intensely fruity, dry red wine that is bottled directly after fermentation. By international agreement, this wine is released only on the third Thursday of November each year. As it is available for a very limited period, most wine lovers pick up their bottles within days of the release.

Most BC Liquor Stores will be carrying two labels this year: Beaujolais Nouveau – Duboeuf at $13.99, and Beaujolais Villages Nouveau – Mommessin at $13.99. A total of just over 1,700 cases will be air-freighted to B.C. in time for the November 19 release.

Visit www.bcliquorstores.com, or check with your local liquor store for more information on product availability and hours of operation. Limited quantities are available in each participating store.
